Phage infections in bioprocesses

One of major threat in bioprocesses based on bacteria are phage infections. When such infection happens once, it usually leads to heavy contamination of whole facility. This is easy to explain: a number of phage particles after multiplication in bacterial culture may exceed 1010 (10000000000) per ml. Spilling even 0.1 ml of such phage lysate may be catastrophic for productivity of the whole facility.
